I am the third verse
You do not know my words
Yet my words are those
That prepare you for the last verse
You think that if you do not sing
Me, the fourth verse will never
Come, but it will, and you will not be

The date on this poem is 6-22-08. I thought a decade or
so ago that I was deep enough into winter that I could think about getting ready
for life’s last verse. I’ve been singing the third verse for a long time now.
