Love
isn’t the most important thing, it’s the only thing. That’s what Jesus said.
It’s
the opposite of Vince Lombardi’s famous “Winning isn’t the most important
thing; it’s the only thing.”
Vince
expresses very clearly the conventional wisdom. The wisdom of Jesus is never
conventional, always revolutionary.
Conventional
wisdom has only one winner. Everyone else is a loser. The Jesus wisdom makes a
winner of everyone.
“Your
sons and daughters will prophesy, and your old men shall dream dreams.” [Joel
2:28.] Today is my birthday. I am an old man dreaming dreams, dreams of
winning, dreams of love.
In
the cold of winter, warmth is the only thing, and it doesn’t come from winning.
It comes from love.
